What is Argan Oil

Also known as "Moroccan gold," this unique and beautiful oil is obtained from the fruit of Argan trees (Argania Spinosa) that grow only in the forests of southwestern Morocco.

The tree, the fruit and the kernel

Each tree can grow up to 10 meters tall. In extreme weather conditions, it drops its leaves to avoid evaporation and enters a hibernation mode that ends when humidity increases. It bears its fruit between May and June. These fruits look like olives, but are slightly larger and rounder. Inside this fruit are the kernels from which argan oil is extracted.

Discover

The extraction of this valuable oil

It takes 30 kilograms of argan fruit to produce 1 liter of oil. Consequently, this is a labor-intensive process. Nothing from the argan fruit is wasted: what remains after extraction is fed to livestock and the kernels are used as fuel.

Produced and used

For many centuries

It has been traditionally produced for centuries by the Berber women of this region. Argan oil is used both for consumption and in traditional Moroccan medicine.
